THANK YOU . . . . .
for all the very kind comments you've been making on the re-styled Semaphore magazine itself. The decision to make it full-colour was a big step, but the advantage this gave would have been wasted without an attractive and professional design and high quality printing and finishing.
So much of the credit must go to our designer and to our printer.
Liz Wiggins (designer) studied Graphic Design at Falmouth College of Art & Design (one of the best Art Colleges), before graduating in 1995. Initially Liz worked for the Northcliffe Group, designing magazines, brochures and leaflets. After moving to Bristol, Liz decided to go freelance. Her clients include local and national companies and, most importantly - the AVR. Her Dad is a steam addict so Liz feels that railways have always been part of her life. She is also a very keen runner and two years ago completed the New York Marathon.
WP Litho (printer) is based in Calne, Wiltshire and is a highly experienced company with a long-established team, specialising in printing catalogues, magazines, fine art reproduction, corporate literature and packaging. Semaphore's excellent picture reproduction is thanks to their Creo Staccato imaging system which uses state-of-the-art screening technology to give finer detail. Their clients range from local businesses to national blue chip companies and, because they work 24 hours, six days a week, we were able to see, check and confirm the quality overnight. In fact, David Cole was invited along to see the first run being printed.
